Breitling's Professional series, a close cousin of the legendary Chronomat revival of the 1980s, includes some of the brand's most heavy duty watches, built with input from professional aviators. Its success—thanks to its rugged and attractive aesthetics and digital-analogue dial—reversed the company's fortunes after the woes of the quartz crisis. The B1 was introduced at the very end of the 1990s, succeeding the Breitling Chronospace, though the lineage of the brand's superb electronic chronographs stretches back to the Navitimer LED 9106 in the 1970s. This model boasts a perpetual calendar, GMT and alarm functionality.
