Prada

Mario Prada and his brother Martino opened Fratelli Prada in Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in 1913, selling leather goods and luggage, and within a few years were supplying the Italian royal household. Mario's granddaughter Miuccia took over in 1978 and made the house a byword for intellectual, slightly awkward modernity, beginning with a black nylon backpack in 1984. Since 2020 she has designed Prada with Raf Simons, and in 2025 the Prada Group bought Versace.
