This magnificent timepiece features several great complications, chief among which is surely the annual calendar. Patek revolutionised calendar complications when it invented the annual calendar in the 1990s, a complication with almost as much complexity and convenience as its perpetual counterpart, only needing to be set once per year. New in 2016, this model is an evolution and combination of two legendary, beloved watches from the Patek stable—the 5960 and the 5205 (hence the new ref. taking the 59 and the 05 respectively). You'll find the superb chronograph functionality of the former, pared down to a single 60-minute counter, combined with the elegant concentric circle design of the latter, placing the calendars in uncluttered, easy-to-read windows at 12 o'clock. The dial is 42mm in platinum making it both sporty and sophisticated: classic Patek.
