The Speedmaster has a long association with the Moon, of course, having been NASA's watch of choice during the Apollo missions. But this particular model, with its prominent and exquisitely detailed moonphase at 12 o'clock, is not one you'll find for sale very often among the many special editions out there. That's because, while it's not technically a limited run, the watch was only produced for a short time in the early 2000s, and not a huge number were made. It's a shame because the watch is superb, with its lovely vintage-style design, broad arrow hands and tachymeter bezel, not to mention an impressive number of complications for the price point. You can thank the wonderful and adaptable caliber 1861 for that.
