Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM00579

The PAM 579 is a wonderful example of that rare beast in Panerai legend: the left-handed Luminor. Confusingly, Panerai calls these watches “Destro”—Italian for “right”. That's because the watch is designed to be worn on the right hand, hence placing the crown on the left. If you're not a Panerai expert, it might take you a second or two to notice that there's even anything different, as almost all the other elements of handsome Luminor design are present and correct: big cushion 1950s-style case, dome-like crown guard, retro dial and a gorgeous leather strap to match. The watch has a monopusher chrono, 8-day power reserve and a superb, authentic-looking artificial patina on the lower part of the sandwich dial.
