New York-based label, Tanaka, was founded by Sayori Tanaka in 2017. Inspired by her Japanese heritage and upbringing, Tanaka integrates the principle of wabi sabi—the beauty of imperfection—into her design process. By foregrounding the raw material from which each piece derives, Tanaka draws attention to the relationship between art and nature.
