Polaroid

Edwin Land founded Polaroid in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1937, sold the first instant camera in 1948 and introduced the white-framed integral film of the SX-70 in 1972. After the original company's bankruptcies, a group called the Impossible Project took over the last film factory, in Enschede in the Netherlands, in 2008 and brought instant film back; its backers bought the Polaroid name in 2017. Today's Polaroid, based in Amsterdam, makes instant cameras, film and speakers.
