Matthew Adams Dolan

2016

Designer Matthew Adams Dolan graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City before launching his debut collection for Spring/Summer 2016. Inspired by denim’s familiarity, universality, and versatility, Dolan's namesake label specializes in the fabric. Drawing on its historical significance within American culture, from its roots in industrial-era workwear to its mid-20th century ascendancy and later ubiquity in 1990s pop culture, Dolan’s denim takes a multitude of forms. Oversized silhouettes and embellished tailoring make for androgynous styling, while heavily distressed, shredded, and reconstructed materials amplify textural contrasts. Easy jersey t-shirts and lounge pants featuring unanticipated accents round out the brand’s denim-driven collections.
