Since his first collection launched in 1986, Marc Jacobs has placed himself at the frontlines of trendsetting fashion. A testament to his foresight his dismissal at Perry Ellis in 1992 for his designs surrounding the "grunge" look and aesthetic (which, almost as if Jacobs had predicted, became a major fashion trend of the 90's), his label gained ground and led to his appointment as the creative director of Louis Vuitton in 1997. Practically a global household name in when it came to fashion, Jacob's success has spanned multiple industries and product lines, from runway, ready-to-wear, fragrances, cosmetics, and many more.
