Maharishi

Hardy Blechman, who started out trading military surplus, founded Maharishi in London in 1994 to make hard-wearing clothes from hemp, organic cotton and upcycled army stock. Arena magazine called its embroidered Snopants, cut from US Army snow-camouflage over-trousers, 'the most copied pants of the decade', and in 2004 Blechman published DPM: Disruptive Pattern Material, a 944-page encyclopaedia of camouflage. The privately owned label still turns military codes to pacifist ends.
