Giuseppe Marenzi and his wife, Alessandra Diana, founded Herno in 1948 in Lesa, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, making raincoats of cotton treated with castor oil for the damp local climate. The company has since moved into down jackets and technical outerwear, including the Gore-Tex pieces of its Laminar line, all built on light, precise tailoring, and it is still run by the family, now under their son Claudio Marenzi.
