D.Gnak by Kang.D

2008

Seoul-born Kang Dong Jun founded menswear label D.Gnak by Kang.D in 2008. Melding his appreciation of Western tailoring with the looser fit of Korean menswear, the stylistic pillars of D.Gnak by Kang.D lie in the pairing of a restricted black and white palette with inventive structural flare. Muscular draping creates boldly layered looks that effectively establish an aesthetic framework within which the label’s streamlined design principles can come to light. Through this pronounced and uncompromising sartorial identity, the label pushes forward a decidedly future-leaning menswear vision. Angular, off-kilter basics exist alongside opulent outerwear to showcase the full gamut of men’s apparel without sacrificing cohesion, while unmistakable robust sneaker silhouettes are upheld as the optimal footwear option in achieving a fully-realized interpretation of elevated everyday outfitting. Permeated by hard-edged accents, an undercurrent of transgression runs through D.Gnak by Kang.D’s approachably dystopian outlook on contemporary dress.
