Danner

Charles Danner started his boot company in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, in 1932 and moved it to Portland, Oregon, four years later to shoe the loggers and shipyard workers of the Pacific Northwest. In 1979 the Danner Light became the first hiking boot lined with Gore-Tex, and the company still builds boots such as the Mountain Light at its Portland factory. Danner belongs to LaCrosse Footwear, owned since 2012 by the Japanese retailer ABC-Mart.
