The brothers Ettore and Giansevero Fila founded Fila in 1911 in Coggiola, near Biella in the Italian Alps, making knitwear and underwear for the mountain communities around them. The move into sportswear came in the 1970s, when Björn Borg wore its tennis clothes, and the brand has since spread across tennis, running and streetwear. Fila Korea bought the business in 2007, and it is now run from Seoul by Misto Holdings, formerly Fila Holdings, which also owns the golf company Acushnet.
