Maison Margiela

Martin Margiela, a Belgian who had assisted Jean Paul Gaultier, founded his Paris house in 1988 with Jenny Meirens and made anonymity its signature: blank white labels held by four stitches, models with veiled faces, no interviews. The split-toe Tabi boot from his first show, deconstruction and reworked found materials became the house codes, and Renzo Rosso's OTB bought the company in 2002. John Galliano designed it from 2014 to 2024; Glenn Martens took over in 2025.
