GRLFRND launched in spring 2016 as the in-house denim label of the online retailer Revolve, which bought the Los Angeles manufacturer Alliance Apparel to produce it. Made in Los Angeles, the first collection of 18 styles, each named after a model, took its cue from the hunt for vintage jeans and the denim worn by 1990s supermodels, pairing faded, lived-in washes with high-rise, close-fitting cuts.
