CHUP is the house label of Glen Clyde, a sock maker that started in Tokyo in November 1992 with a borrowed desk and a single phone line and spent years knitting for other brands before launching its own. The socks borrow folk and indigenous patterns from around the world and are made in Japan on vintage low-gauge machines, only a few dozen pairs a day, with the toes linked by hand.
